Ooh yes..Matt got me thinking now..especially with the emergence of the 512GB 2.5″ solid state disks or SSD in the market by Simple Tech (STEC). Oooh …Solid State Disks…and no moving parts! Nitch Nada. No possibility of Hard Disk crashes…
How can I be more happy… cost wise? I recon by at least $5000 for the 512GB…since a 8GB CF is now about $28 which equates to about $7 per GB, working down to at least $6000, but as time goes by… things get super cheap…and from what I heard..even the new CPU (Quad Core / Core2 Duo etc) are coming in with built in 1GB ram and 1GB of NVRAM, so it’s built in with a basic operating system, meant for equipment like Routers, Network Drive Servers (NSLU, NAS alike) and dumb terminals for dust/dirt controlled enviroments like in clean room.
Ready for the next wave??
And I did see recently an equivalent of the 3.2Ghz Core2 Duo Mobile CPU from a friend who works in R&D.
