Germany also known as Deutschland was previously seperated by a huge wall, known as the Berlin Wall, which what now left is the American Army Sentry Point, called Checkpoint Charlie. Also known as Allermande, it was also known as the FDR or the GDR which meant the Federated Deutsche Republic and the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (the communist side or Germany). Both have it’s own history , colorful and at times, with hints of grey.
One of the colorful places is of course, Bad Aachen (Bad means Town) is surrounded by three countries, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands. Of course, there are now no more borders due to the Schengen Agreement and for the past 10 years, there are only Euros, no more Deutsche Marks in circular.

One place not normally covered is the Baltic Coast of the GDR which borders Poland and Denmark. I had the opportunity of passing thru the area when I was returning from Denmark with my wife many years ago when we were driving up from London to Copenhagen and Malmo in Sweden on our rackety old Proton Saga Magma 8Valve. That was a historical thing.
Can’t seem to find the pics though…. but we want to come back there again..nice place to visit.. friendly people too!
My wife can’t seem to forget the Grilled Chicken which we savored on the German - Denmark border. Osssh! It’s something for us to remember by.
How I miss Germany..not for the wrong reasons. Come to think of it.. I got 10,000,000 DEUTSCHEMARKS …anyone wanna trade??
Ahahahaha, it seems you miss doishlan (Deutchland) too much…. Ich liebe Deutchland!
you may want to do more research on “bad.” It means “bath,” and in a town’s name usually denotes a pond or a spring next to the town. Kinda like how I live in a town that has a “Glan,” or river.
