“, “Being stuck with a dead end job is no joke. You have a growing family to feed and the only way out is to ensure your status is to persue the paper trail.
In this era of Knowledge Based Economy, having the experience just doesn’t cut it out anymore. Companies find it cheaper to employ a fresh graduate and train him up than to pay a far experienced middle-aged person a higher decent sum of money. That is, If you don’t have the Degree or what nots they require.
I have to be honest. I was stuck as just before. I completed my Diploma in Electronics Engineering with bare pass rates due to my poor attitude and performance. I do love hands on studies, like cracking PC and Servers up and doing the Networking bits and bobs along with it. I love the challenge. But no-one will pay me the full proper rates unless I can justify the cause.
Paying £6000 for MCSE+IT and other nots don’t just cut it out. They want those inscriptions behind yr name, like BScIS MScIT etc etc.. but having a Diploma will never get you that far. You have to climb 3 yrs to study in class, by means of night classes and oÂnline study leaving you less time for the family and much needed rest.
I knew this was going to my disadvantage and since I love webdesigns, codes and stuff like that, I took oÂn some additional classes oÂnline from places like Microsoft,ZDUniversity , all ala-carte to fit what I want to know. Though silly it may come to you but even with a basic knowledge in your diploma, those courses can attribute to your degree, to top up those credit hours needed.
Myself found that the intitute of higher learning in UK accepts the credit transfer points (CATS) to their needs. A normal MSc will need 180points to pass and along with your experience counts towards it.
They don’t care if you utilised those points before towards another course, as long its a relevant subject in the specified field of study. You don’t expect yr BioMed classes to be accredited to the Engineering do you?
I took oÂn a Masters of Science in Internet Engineering at the University of East London with my bare diploma and loads of knowledge with me. These PostGrad programs will require you to sit for an interview to assess your skills to the required stage.
Just as well, a person with a good degree with honours won’t get in if he or she is without the solid background knowledge.I know that for a fact.
Even if you don’t like the modules, you can mix and match them too to suit yr means. I took oÂn more of the MEng modules and the MSc but with some MBA classes with it, and in the end I got the best of the worlds. Heck just the title oÂn my degree says it all MScIE as these modules are interlinked to each other. You can’t run a successful life just working when you are doing a Masters, you are expected to run your own business sometime in the near future and marketing skills, cost accounting, effective communication skills are also needed to clinch that first few deals.
In the next few weeks, I will discuss the factors of what to study and where to study along with ways to reduce those student outgoings.
Watch for it
