Hey guys, if you are on the Visa Waiver System, then it’s great! Just like the APEC card, citizens from the 27 countries which are basically the EU Schengen States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan …and the recently added Singapore and Brunei can enter the United States without a need of a Visa.
A US Visa costs as low as USD100 to about USD350 for complicated ones and with the Malaysians getting a B1 Visitor Visa is more harder than they think, especially after the number of deportations in UK and continental Europe soars to an ultimate highs that they are now asking Malaysians to get Visas especially to the Schengen States.
Anyway, now there is another thing you have to do before thinking of getting to the United States, its the ESTA or Electronic System for Travel Authorization. It is actually a system getting away with the blue and white landing cards upon arrival or even embarking on a plane to the continental US.
It is actually simple and takes about 10-25 minutes and I was skeptical as I am not that of an angel, as I was almost refused entry to the US before because I tend to gamble too much on the strip, or I had chalked up some parking tickets or so during my stint in the Big Apple.
So, should Malaysia adapt a similar system? They should actually.
Well today I got a nice gift from Telekom when they finally relocated my fone line since I had to endure the 3 month long wait for them to get their act together.
From bad contractors to bad communication, I finally got to the streamyx and which had issues logging on as the port is terribly clogged up here in Damansara Damai, the slumps as they don’t wish to invest in this God Forsaken Temuan Aboriginal area, which is the center between 4 town councils.
Anyway, one of the surprises I got was the download / upload speed which I saw read as ADSL2+ FULL, 26485 Kbps. Yes, you read it, 26.4 megabytes on the tap. So I decided to do some tests, which I thought was really bull crap, unless the network guys is too bloody lazy and give me the entire whole 100Base-T port all to myself.
Anyway I am still downloading and uploading my set of files to see if it’s the real McCoy and thing is..my files are huge, fat ass huge as I will be FTP up and down, synchronizing my files and trying to get a head start with the Google Chrome, dubbed as the next best thing to overcome InterNET Explorer. Which reminded me of the BABYLON AD movie which VIN DIESEL watched the big ass TV with pictures etc all with the word GOOGLE on it. Did Google sponsor the darn shoot or what. It’s like 90 seconds of air time or so.. and I just wait to see
Anyway, I’ll update to see if the speed is really over 1MEG, or just a fiction. I got 4989Kbps just now with my iTunes download off Apple iTunes Movie store. Heh!
Nuffnang Singapore is here again with Babylon AD movie giveaways this weekend with the need to embed the YouTube Video and the movie link.
Thing is that this is classified as PAID LINKS and the Google Bot will kill your ranks and even put your site as Security Risk. (see all the bad ethic pages). Will it be worth the movie ticket? Maybe, if you don’t do paid blogging or your Google Adsense earnings and listings to be reduced drastically?
I am not sure, but I rather write a free review than of the links by Nuffnang now. Risky enough not to do it.
I’ve been reading my server logs and well it’s been a long list of http requests and lookups. Mainly, I’ve been getting the need of POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK SINGAPORE POSB bank identity code (BIC) or SWIFT code.
Lets’ put it blindly, the local system bank reference for POSB is… 9812-082 for ALL their savings accounts and it differ for their current accounts. SAYE accounts are too subjected to this.
Noted, if you wish to use your POSB Debit Mastercard for your PAYPAL is fine, but it does not load up. Does not work at certain places, and in the US, from what I heard. But if you need to use it for MONEYBOOKERS, then the code is THE SAME AS DBS BANK Swift code. If you don’t know what swift is, it’s Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication. Only European banks uses IBAN codes, which every account has their own code. IBAN is International Bank Account Number where like the Internet gTLD, the first 2 codes are from the country code. GB is the code for UK,as always the English don’t follow rules.
So, the code for POSB is: DBSS SG SG ,that’s TRIPLE S because all banks uses 4 character codes. Then followed by the country and city.
Common ones:
UOB/OUB/IBS : UOVB SG SG
CITIBANK : CITI SG SG (add PBG for private banking or CDP for CDP usages)
OCBC Bank: OCBC SG SG
RHB Bank Singapore: RHBB SG SG (not MYKL XXX)
MayBank Singapore : MBBE SG SG (for debit cards too, Malayan Banking BErhad)
Royal Bank of Scotland is RBOS SG SG
ABN AMRO is ABNA SGSG (while it’s changing to RBOS)
Note:
Singapore banks charges S$14 to receive the wire + 0.5%
Have fun!
My heartiest congratulations to Mr Anwar Ibrahim for his huge win at Permatang Pauh by Election.
I just hope thins are better for fellow Malaysians as things affect us Singaporeans.. heck of a lot.
So what is next? When can I have the 50sen drop in fuel prices…please
While many know I have many sites under my own network, many are just boring and dull, mainly because my theme is heck of a boring one, from Sapien Bryan which I modded too much. Themes come at not much of a cost, but nicely backgrounded one like ZYRAZ’S Chocolates which uses the backend of WordPress Themed had encoded so that I cannot modify the footer and remove the frigging spam links.
I want to see what I can do from the URI ENCODED, but someone in the WP Community should make it a point that themes with coded footers are a No Go. It’s like GPL or GNU Licensing but it’s modify and your taste thingy, without any parasites.
Oh ya.I run about 72 sites..for yr info, and tomorrow I’ll get my full capacity leased lines back after a 3 month delay from TM.
See how it goes
Well, if those of us who don’t BLOG FOR MONEY don’t realise that it’s the time of the year where they try to smack you with points and demerits with the sense of paid advertorials or what not. I just feel that Google is now is getting the brunt of the internet wrath as their tactics are kind of making people’s earnings become like the stock exchange.. down mainly now.
I was going through the URLTrends and then forth saw the downward trends of all my sites and my friends, and those who I monitor much. So are we going to be afraid of Google and it’s Page Ranks? I don’t know yet.
