Enough Hacking Already!

This new year, I am really drawing down the Looney Tunes Line of War on Hackers and Spammers alike. What I found out was a simple minute script that can actually stop these comment spam right smack on the tracks.

Well, Commonly known as the Hyper Text Access Control or .HTACCESS file, it is proven to be a very useful tool to deter all these comment spam and even God Forbid, an SQL Inject which was a cause for concern for Word Press Users. What SQL Inject is that hackers try to access your Database normally through a long field of SQL Queries into the Logon Field or even anything where they can strip line the entry into, be it a comment.php or even your Login.PHP.

So, what can you type into the .HTACCESS file? First stop, deter all these LEECHERS.

This will deter anyone using a BOT. If you don’t want Mozilla Firefox users and want only useless IE users only,then you can manipulate the Rewrite Conditions to deter FIREFOX or EXPLORER.

Next Pit Stop: Get rid of the hosts.
Inserting %{REMOTE_HOST} ^72.52.*$ [nc,or] means you deny any servers or users from that IP *(in this case, The Planet Internet, which hosts HOSTGATOR and Many other WebHosts) from accessing your page or sites at all. It’s pretty useful to deny any users from Russia or the Former USSR, Eastern Europe and Africa.

To deny anyone from Africa (if you are so desperate) add this to the above BEFORE the RewriteRule:

This is drastic, but you won’t even get hits from Egypt at all. To deter those Hispanic or South American readers…you have to add the LACNIC users, but like I said, it is NOT A FOOL PROOF. Add a page saying you are sorry but you can’t allow access for robots using those IP addresses. I have a page where the scripts etc will work which is basically a proxy server but as I said…it fools only the bots.

This is ISP and HOST Dependent…so, use at your own risk.
