Paper trail

Thursday 31 January 2008 @ 9:19 am

Now that I’m in Singapore…
Singapore is not that efficient after all, the E-GOV etc as their TRAFFIC POLICE makes you wait for 2 hours plus just to see you for something…and this is you trying to pay them..

huh!

WHAT EFFICIENCY!

Summoned to answer

Monday 28 January 2008 @ 4:44 pm

Well, It’s 1230 AM here in Malaysia on Tuesday and this may be the last post I make for a while as I will be driving down to Singapore in a few hours to answer to the Local Authorities about some little actions which I had some knowledge of and I chose NOT to disclose under the Data Protection Act 1988.

Yes, the Singapore Information Communications Ministry is summoning me as an Individual Operator Station to answer to a board of inquiry at the last minute served upon me as the deemed Case Officer into a little known incident a while ago, which basically, I was a listening party to the network and well, basically, I am caught sleeping on the job for not doing my paperwork properly. Durgh, like as if I would do properly, even with my ISO 9001 UKAS certification and the Enviromental ISO14001 statues means I try to reduce as much paper and carbon emissions as possible and meaning I will try to reduce the number (numerically) of energy misused and wasted off to the environment etc etc etc.

Let’s put it in this way, BLINDLY, I am licensed up to the MILITARY GRADE STANDARD, and as a Military Officer (Executive as they call us) I am to adhere to the code as a Person or a Station to report such so and so incident. Well, I was …sleeping on my watch, which was not my watch, and not my jurisdiction, and so I thought..f it… not my problem.

Now… seems this little incident pointed to me. NCIS, FAA, IDA, SGNic, SCSNS and all the agencies will again crawl over me..just like the Kent Police with trying to tie me with another dodgy credit card cashing order with the Currency Control Unit. Well, this little Ah-Long got little hassled over a few cents…trying to help others in distress..and what he get..he get pissed at.

So, to that joker, watch out XE-1-S-OLE…U noe who U are. You just want to be funny just because I help you cash all your Paypal funds which was dirty. Just watch it.

As a general Note:

1) I do not lend people money. I do not introduce other than to a bank. I don’t sell Insurance or Houses. I am just the print medium to help you close that deal, and move you about. I do however, owe alot of people money..and the Singapore Government is hell one big lender.

I do favours for friends. Hate that 800KM drive from Penang back to Singapore. Aiyoh Samy.. kena Derma lagi kat MIC kar Samy? Mati Lau Lee Macam Nie. Pak Harto dah Pergi.. Awak Bila nak berhenti?

Domain Naming Accredition

Monday 28 January 2008 @ 12:49 am

So yes, I got my accreditions back. Yes, means I have to fork out another $8000 in licensing fees plus another deposit bond of about $25,000 to ICANN and various registries.

Which means… I can register your entity for
Dot TV Dot Travel for Travel Industry

Dot SG .SG for Singapore

and many more…

Heck, I don’t even knew these countries and registries exist and the local laws….
Anyway, if you need a domain with cheap host (basic stuff)…no frills, come by the Domain Registry….

Dot Everything

*Accredited Registrar for .IM, .SG, .UK, .BE.
*Using 3rd Party Application System for Management
*Prices Includes VAT and ICANN Handling Fees.

IM NU IN asia

I’m NOW in Asia with iExploreAsia, Where do you want to be….. (NU is Now in SWEDISH)

All I need now is to create some extra jobs for you to do with Ann Julie and Ida Nerina….

Useless Emails

Saturday 26 January 2008 @ 5:18 pm

I tell you, this email business is getting me into a fury. I installed a cheat code where if it’s spam detected at the server side, the SPF Assassin will mark it as /*spamfilter*/ as the subject so it will automatically move to my spam box, just in case I get an email I do want but it’s not marked properly, I have to sieve through their subjects too.

Anyway, I received 630 emails everyday, which are legit emails and out of them, only less than a dozen are worth me reading it, mostly are advertiser digests and notices. Yes, I have over 9000 advertisers across 12 networks looking and bidding for my limited ad spaces. Thus why I run over 72 blogs!

What interesting things I read on my Email Today?

Incoming Advertising on my Blog by Nuffnang.
Something private between me and Timothy… (Shhh.. development stuff)
Adbrite with their list of ads (over 40,000 listing on my spots!)
Commission Junction with their invitations….
NCIS Wiki telling me that there more writers strikes..so no more NCIS episodes in Season 5

So, what placements did you get so far? I have a few that is really giving best value for money…

And..how many emails are worth the read today?

Scandanavian blues

Friday 25 January 2008 @ 7:21 pm

One of those things that reminds me very vividly was me on a crazy drive chase up from London to the Scandinavian countries, specifically SWEDEN, DENMARK, FINLAND and Germany. I drove up on the 5000 KM trek using an ancient Proton Saga 1.5 which is the first edition and well, let’s put it in this way…the customs (DUANE) were trying to figure out what car and where this piece of scrap metal came from, knowing it’s ENGLISH based….with the driver definitely on the wrong side of the road.

The roads to Sweden,Finland are without any hassle. No tolls except for the long causeway in Denmark and from Copenhagen to Malmo tunnel which costs about £28 which they don’t use the EURO. Yeah..it’s still Danish Kroners and Swedish Kroners except in Finland aka NOKIA-LAND , they love to grab hold of your Euros.

There is a difference in culture in Stockholm and the south, but typically they speak ‘VIKING’. Food culture is simple, but pork is the core food, but getting Halal food is easy in the big cities. Just avoid KFC too!

One thing if you are driving : Speed Limits vary, and rule of thumb, it’s about 90-110 in the areas, and lower when there are fog. No Fog Lamp is to be switched on if you don’t encounter fog as the person behind you will bedazzled by the bright red tail light. You also have to switch on your headlights at all times, thus why VOLVO and SKODA automatically switches the headlights on when you turn up the engine.

Oh ..as normal, there are always on the spot fines…and no tolerance to drink and drive.
Have fun in Scandinavia and always park and ride in the city, unless you want to risk yr car being towed!

TM Net errors

Friday 25 January 2008 @ 4:40 am

Well, first of all, what TM Said is kinda BULL CRAP. There is a broken international link. But it affected only KL,PJ,USJ, Subang, Cyberjaya.

It affected the bulk of the users : SERVER FARMS.

It does not affect those not in the Lembah Klang Area.
It does little effect to Johor Baru (Since they piggy back to SINGTEL)
Little Lag is felt with PENANG and KEDAH (Since we kinda leech it from INTEL)

It affects BLOGSPOT!!

So, what steps to do?
Do a DNS CACHE FLUSH (ipconfig /flushdns )
Reset your routers. Linksys WAG54G is preferred as CISCO talks to the routers for best routes.
Reset yr PC.

Still no connection:?
Modify your proxy servers to the australian one
I suggest 132.10 port 3128

I have others..but you can test yr connection if it’s error …

Do a ping to SINGTEL ( DNSSEC1.SINGNET.COM.SG ) and STARHUB ( secdns.cyberway.com.sg /203.116.1.78 ) and see if you can get a 350ms hop.

If you do..then UR good to go..

Book mark this if you need more help.

Off record..someone working at JKR struck a fiber which they thought it was a waterpipe! Sources from friends up in TM.

Nuffnang or something else?

Thursday 24 January 2008 @ 8:44 pm

I am running a little cheeky experiment with the site today, for the next month or so. I know it’s NOT FAIR to compare apples to pears in the sense of US Dollars to Malaysia Ringgits but I’m placing units to compare based on the $7.50 earned for a band 4 Youth ad run which was for ONE THOUSAND VIEWS.

So what is been said? $7.50 is the eCPM for a standard banner. For ONE THOUSAND VIEWS. I have replaced that threshold to show Adbrite Ads on my leaderboard for $10 eCPM. So, if it’s showing less than that, it SHOULD show Nuffnang Ads..means NUFFNANG WINS!

All I am trying to see is, if I can earn more on Nuffnang than Adbrite and Google Combined, which by far is chicken feed. Which works to about an average of USD1.38 per day. In essence, Nuffnang SHOULD pay out at about that rate.

Tim…just humour me ok…with the Panel kept on switching me from Glitterati to Non-Glitter, I am just trying this as an experiment, all because my wife’s Kitchen is more popular among the women here… I drive more traffic, from the US actually. Alot more.

So, what will I gain out of the next few days with 1000 visitors? I SHOULD be pocketing about $20 in ad revenue , maximizing Nuffnang and Adbrite and Google competing with the colorful language I am spitting out.

Will you join me? I want to know what kind of ads will pop up. Mostly, they are 5cents per click, but mainly about $7 CPM. And yeah..don’t forget to grab that DOTSTER .INFO 99c domain offer! (No commission for me..it’s just for me to get cheaper rates next time to share with…COUPON CODE IS 99INFODOT )

And yes.. I am giving away free hosting and Domains. Join the Kedai Club and I’ll broadcast this when I get my FBO and SBO License. And yes Tim… IDA now requires MEDIA AGENCIES to obtain a STORE AND RETRIEVE SBO License (Value Added Network Class C) before going to operations…they are really a pain just because a company has kept customer’s confidential details etc etc etc… all the bull crap. Another way of Singapore asking you to flash the GOLDEN YUSUF ISHAK LESEN to do business. And if you wondering what it is….

YUSUF 1000

But I was referring to this lesen…

Yusuf 10000

And in Malaysia…. we use the AGONG LESEN…
And I mean..the great Agong …

SERIBU RINGGIT
