More Performance ?

Thursday 28 December 2006 @ 8:54 pm

Yada yada yada… more of me trying to get paid to blog …trying myself to make more of a decent living.
What I do mind sometimes are ISP which are killing me…and of the multi mergers …acquisitions and more problem for the user.

Let see…this issue of Performancing.com ….
they are just like blogger,with advertising rights….
looks for good earnings…..
Looks and feels like those adsense monetised websites or blogs which PayPerPost (who sponsors this) doesn’t in principle like.

Maybe it’s the advertising revenue…who knows.
For me, I will carry on with my blogging and in my own domain, unless that they will allow me to blog using my wordpress off their servers and using my domain name.
Do what I want.
Heck, even HostGator now offers 100GB of webspace for me to dump my junk for under $9.95 a mth.

Which…come back to the first place..why I wanna use a company like them, unlike the Powweb acquisition of FAQs dot com…which does it’s job proper…with loads of traffic.
Maybe, they wanna give advertisers the run for their money…ads cheaper among others, and less paying of paid reviews.

I’m gonna register..and try put more ads into my site….and see if this works for me….cos I think it’s worth a try.
I had text link ads running for a while and now it shows a small little ad now. Dunno how much it costs.

And look from which..they run on DRUPAL??? hmmn…maybe I can try make some dosh thru it..
Got my EBAYTRUST info Network to make a do with…since it runs drupal. I have been stupid to know how to run it….durgh!

Anyway…lets try and see ok?

More to add later on the show.

Blog Rolling

Thursday 28 December 2006 @ 8:29 pm

Hi everyone. Hope the Holidays was fun.
Anyway, I was doing some research thru a few engines and found that if you blogroll someone on the sidebar, that person’s link is not listed in your outgoing link.

Somewhat intrigues me, cos Blogspot or whatever will list you when you are blogrolled.

I did not believe it at first, but seems that if you go to google or alexa, and click on the sites that link you, (LINK:SITE) only those people who writes something with your URL in the post will be captured, and thus increase yr blog links.

What I don’t still understand is how to increase the pagerank without having to do up all the keywords and like that.

Anyone for a BLOGROLL?

I’ll start this off with our IN-HOUSE Links

InHouse Links

In The Kitchen With Kak Mar with her specialty : CHEESE CAKES

Notty Tia and Daddy Tia

Daddy Tia’s Geeky Zone…. *(Donno if up) , CitizenNews Network , Singapore Galore! and more.

more to add ……

Learning a new skill

Thursday 28 December 2006 @ 6:59 am

I have always a nerd, and trying to get my skills to what is at par.
Since the time of MSDN,SBN,MCSE and those paper skills, I’ve always been at the peak of my par, being the top of everyone else.
Microsoft certification used to be the NEED of everyone, but now, with the need of Linux in the open market, and other systems like CISCO, Novell, Comptia Network+ Training and such, that is also more as important as what Microsoft been dictating.

Imagine having a network and being hacked is an everyday nightmare to all admins. DDOS, Spambots Nukes etc are common everyday things. Comptia Network+ Training is an essential learning skill for networking as to Microsoft’s Network Essentials course, where you learn the OSI layer and all the protocols,API,Transport Packets and more.

attracts the geek in me back, and despite the costs involved and me not able to get the job. I still love these educational infomation ..add to my list of skills.

I nicked this off the Trainsignal site (*the sponsor)..
The Following Twenty-Four (24) Courses are included in the
Complete Train Signal FastTrack Library Set:

* Microsoft Virtualization
* Exchange Server 2003
* Exchange Server 2000
* ISA Server 2004 Firewall
* Active Directory Fundamentals
* Windows XP Professional for IT Pros
* Microsoft Windows IIS Web Servers
* Windows File Servers
* Windows Server Security
* DNS Server Essentials
* DHCP Server Essentials
* WINS Server Essentials
* Routing & Remote Access Server
* Advanced Active Directory - Group Policy
* Advanced Active Directory - Client Deployment & AD Management
* Advanced Active Directory - Sites & Services
* Cisco CCNA
* Cisco CCNP BSCI - Routing
* Cisco CCNP BCMSN - Switching
* Cisco CCNP BCRAN - Remote Access
* Cisco CCNP CIT - Troubleshooting
* Linux Networking & Administration
* Wireless Networking & Administration
* CompTIA Network+

I am really really interested…..
despite the $1995 cost.
Hmmn….looks like I got a long way to blog.

What does the RON in the Fuel gotta do with the Performance

Tuesday 26 December 2006 @ 3:23 am

Shell V-Power Racing, Caltex 100RON, are these just Gimmicks?
Not so I think as the RON is a factor, but also the additive in the fuel does it’s job better.

I remember using those ‘racing rocket fuel’ claims to have 100% octane levels….. and well, those methanol does it’s job better.

I REFER to the letter, ‘Rein in pump prices and polluting fuels’ by Mr Hwang Liang Keng (ST, Dec 19). Mr Hwang mentioned that California laws prohibit the sale of petrol with an octane level higher than 91.

The octane number is actually an imprecise measure of the maximum compression ratio at which a particular fuel can be burned in an engine without pre-detonation. There are actually two numbers - RON (research octane number) and MON (motor octane number). The RON simulates fuel performance under low severity engine operation. The MON simulates more severe operation that may be incurred at high speed or high load and can be as much as 10 points lower than the RON.

In Singapore, the number at petrol pumps is the RON. However, in the United States, it usually indicates ‘mean’ octane number, that is, (RON + MON)/2, or the average of both the RON and the MON. This is why there is an apparent discrepancy between octane values of petrol in the US and the rest of the world. For example, RON95 unleaded in Singapore is 95 octane but equivalent to American (RON+MON)/2 89 octane.

In the US, low-altitude petrol stations typically sell three grades of petrol with octane ratings of 87, 89 and 91. High-altitude stations typically also sell three grades, but with lower values - 85, 87 and 89. This is because, for every 300m increase in altitude, the RON value goes down by 0.5.

It is also a common misconception among car enthusiasts that higher octane means more power. This is simply not true. The myth arose because high-performance vehicles require higher-octane fuels. Without understanding why, a certain section of the car subculture decided this was because higher-octane petrol means higher power.

The reality is a little different. Power is limited by the maximum amount of fuel-air mixture that can be jammed into the combustion chamber. Because high-performance engines operate with high compression ratios, they are more likely to suffer from detonation. And so to compensate, they need a higher-octane fuel to control the burn.

So yes, sports cars do need high-octane fuel, but it is not because the octane rating somehow gives more power. High-octane fuel is required because the engine develops more power because of its design.
