Shows I Liked

Sunday 30 April 2006 @ 4:22 pm

Fox Mulder, Dana Scully X-Files,
Hammond Rabb JAG
N.C.I.S.
Quantum Leap
I’m a geek so what else I can say.
From days of the old Star Trek to Andromeda , FireFly (Serenity), NCIS ….I love them all especially when they feature of law enforcement, or the military.

Somewhat I am a patriot to the services, even though I am such a wimp and a rebel at the same time, always trying to con my way out of things.

Today, I saw another episode of JAG - Judge Advocates General where the team of Naval Legal Eagles do a bit of Sherlock Holmes and a bit of Matlock, where the prosecute and persue justice. Something reminds me of the good old days in the army.I was a security expert, and yes.. I did my time in jail for my cockups. I was trained in security protocols and loads of other stuff which somewhat I can’t remember now, that I left active service. Things in the military back in Singapore is PURE BULLSHIT. No respect in the command chain, where the civilian is power.

Enuff said,where was I.. JAG:
A case of the guy who was a hero saving his team when a gang of militants attacked the base in Uzbekistan but he was found to be someone else. Petty Officer Third Class ( The rank of a Lance Corporal ) was actually declared dead on 9/11 when he and his business partner perished when the plane hit the twin towers.

He promised to the partner not to let his partner’s wife know what they did…the scam of the venture capitalist, cos all their plans went belly up…markets didn’t recover, especially after the Dot-Com buble burst. Sad though.
Reminds me of alot of sad memories, which I try to forget, of regretting …that I have to bear the pain seeing the next of kin sad…not knowing that their brother/son/husband perished in the training exercise not by war…but by sheer negligence of some of the mates, which caused the whole team to be attacked by crocs.

Those were the stories that were never told. They were only stated as Missing in Action whereas we found their bodies in the river bank..and only heads or which ever parts left…not a whole body.

We couldn’t let the families see this as it hurts them more, so we just bury them in unmarked graves near the river. God .. forgive me for what we have done.

NCIS ( Navy Crime Investigation Service) is a sort similar to the SIB, Special Investigation Branch which the servicemen dread, interrogation can cause death. Known that happens. Alot of cover up especially if that involved high level officers, and even corruption still exists, in clean Singapore. It’s a hush hush.

Like my ex-wife said, everyone has their own skeletons in the wardrobe. Just don’t pick them out again to show.

Wasted Dayz

Saturday 29 April 2006 @ 4:13 pm

What a waste of talent and resources
I just can’t believe how some people who are given the opportunity love to waste on that chance of a lifetime to change their own destiny for the greater good.

I have to admit to myself,t hat I too wasted my youth flundering and being too prodigal of Time, and worst of all , Money.

Having to admit that I have a bad habit of gambling ticks myself off. Maybe that is the reason people avoid me. Heck I can’t help myself. Itchy fingers. Unlike in Singapore or Malaysia, I don’t even do that cos I can go to the arcade and spend some fixed amount on games. Here, in the UK, it’s hard, as the only amusements are the the fruit machines or video enabled gambling stuff. What made things worse are those mini-casino machines featuring Poker, Roulette and like wise at the betting shops.

I really wasted alot of money on them, so far..I think over £3000! That’s this year alone. Could go for a good holiday!New car..stuff like that.
Darn, Very bad of me. I don’t have this problem back home.
Thing is… I must admit.. i didn’t grow up.. still stuck in the mentality of playing games, andreline rush stuff and gadgets alike. Mom always tell me off for doing so..and also then I reallocated the savings to holidays and enjoying myself.

Yes..I did have a savings plan..but now..I just can’t understand it at all!

I have to blame it all on my own self then. I just got fed up here! Fuad tells me the other day that if I can survive without debts to the bank or what…how poorly I live…then I am still far better off than the rest of us, who has huge massive debts.

Note: Ashamed of myself of my own poor sense of control

Geeky Stuff Like that

Thursday 27 April 2006 @ 4:13 pm

What I am gonna do is a revamp.. starting with my work area
Yeah!
My Wife keep on nagging on me and my mess, heck even my Mom & Dad say that..since I turned their living room into my MatriX Reloaded bomb site. With wires running about, cables all over the place and such arrogance and ignorance that I’ll only do something about it when I got kicked in the butt..like having static current passed thru me with my poor ‘fuck care what’ attitude.

This time though, I have to do a bit better cos Athira will love to play with me in the bombsite. She will try yank off my mouse *(did that already earlier on) from the PC and start poking her pingers into those crevices and gaps..and she will get herself hurt. Gotta be a more responsible dad…cos I wanna teach Tia how to use the computer to good use, not playing games or what. As it is ..she already love to educate herself on the daily skills.

So what I did was I took everything out.. disconnected it…and pulled everything into a small corner in the back room, where the wires and the electrics can be out of her nosy way…May be a risk in overloading the power supply though, but I reckon it’s A-OK.

Stacked the DELL DIMENSION and IBM NETVISTA PC on top of each other (the IBM on top so I can access the bays easily) and I can sit on it..where as I double stack two PC Boxes together with some styrofoam in them so I can place the DELL OPTIPLEX PC on top of it and with the monitor.,..so it works like a desk, but this all made of cardboard, and easy to assemble and go! No IKEA DIY or STAPLES Flatpack for me.

Frankly,Got this idea when I was working recently in WINCANTON MANIPULATIONS back in Thurruck, Essex where they repack stuff for Proctor&Gamble (Pringles?) These guys are resourceful like those of the inmates.

So what I also did was swapped the CDROM drive with the NEC DVDROM drive I bought from Pritesh for £2 the other day…and after abit of fiddling, it works. I really dread COMPAQ as most of their shit is proprietory…still till now even after HP took them off.Never trusted Compaq anyway! I’m still stuck with 3 PC with a single monitor, so either I need a KVM or a switch or another Monitor.

Did I mention that these IT Ads for LINUX, Servers and other stuff like that cost a bomb… a Click could earn as much as $14! That will be in another section/Commentary
Note: I can afford to spend £50 on these PCs cheap but I don’t wanna spend £25 on a flatpack desk….. how cruel is that?

Looking for Help Writing Google Adwords?

Thursday 27 April 2006 @ 2:06 am

Everyone needs help. Well, here is some tips”, “With the holidays in “full swing,” shopping is frenzied and buying is at the high point for the year. With even the most rudimentary business knowledge, you know that fourth quarter of the year is always the strong quarter for retailers. People are buying like crazy and each year, the economy picks up a little more steam and people have a little more disposable income.

As Pay Per Click (PPC) advertisers, we know that we must take advantage of this season. This can be a gold mine of opportunity. Whatever product you may be promoting, people are generally more likely to buy. There are exceptions, of course, but we need to be taking advantage of shoppers’ willingness to purchase items they may not normally purchase.

When writing advertisements for PPC services, there is one technique that tends to get attention. After all, attention is really what we’re after. It’s the merchants’ job to write effective sales copy. It’s the merchants’ job to sell the product. With PPC advertising, our only job is to get the click. That’s it.

So what’s the technique for getting people’s attention? You’ve already seen and fallen “victim” to it. Ask questions. You may be reading this because you recognize my name and like my past articles, but more than likely, you were caught by the title. When writing short ads whose sole intent is to get clicks, ask questions that searchers want answered.

If a searcher goes to a search engine and types in “shoes,” what ad title would get more attention: ‘Shoes’ or ‘Looking for Shoes?’ Both titles have the requisite keyword there, but one states a fact (rather blandly) and the other answers a question. When it all comes down to it, isn’t that what many searchers want, questions answered? How about this example: ‘Tie a Bowtie’ or ‘How Do I Tie A Bowtie?’ I think you can see the question seems to address the searcher’s concern more thoroughly than the statement.

The next PPC campaign you start, try asking a question in your ad title. If you can also make sure that the product answers that question, you’ve got a powerful combination of eye-catching ad and problem solving product.

Remember, be good to yourself and never underestimate the power associated with the intensity of your passion.

Community Portals :- You can’t please everyone.

    Saturday 22 April 2006 @ 6:50 pm

Sometimes, things do go wrong, but a computer to go wrong is like Microsoft creating the worst thing in History : WINDOWS

Dedicated to the down-to-earth parents.”, “I must admit. this recent task I took upon reminds me many-many years back when I was a lecturer in a college somewhere nearby. My audience: Middle Aged Teachers. My task: To educate the educators how to be educated in IT and Educate the Educatees. See the pun?

Likewise, alot of companies worldwide try to devise ways to cut corners and cost, like using pirated software, old operating systems, poorly designed networks and so forth, and thanks to the Internet (or InnerNet as we geeks love to call em), the world gets far smaller.

But the basics are still the same, Plain O’ Computer running Microsoft WINDOWS. Whichever OS or Platform it may be. And too much to ask, that Microfish makes a mess of everything, especially their so for called ’security updates’.

Durgh! I thought it wouldn’t mind to me when the boys in Powweb were nagging about the active security level involving scripts. Heck, why we need to bother when most JS (or JavaScript) applications don’t need their approval as it’s SUN’s Open Source.

It’s like the days of VBScript-vs-Javascript again. No one is the winner.

    Only loosers:The users.

Apparent to some, M$ blocked my anti-jacker scripts which I implemented to deter BOTs or ASP enabled scripts to SPAM my sites and users. Some recoded LYNX and CURL to run crawlers to sites and mimic as if it’s IE5.x and thus send spam etc.

Even the IMAGE VERIFICATION was passed due to the clever way they degause the filters. So I thought I had a wedge. Works on Firefox and Opera. NOT ON IE! Durgh!

So then,my client was on my neck again as her precious customers can’t see the site. Tried to persuade them to use FF or OPERA…but nah! well.. I had to over-write everything back to core..and now…I am back to step one.

Well, I’ve to devise more plans again..but till i get the portal templates to work coherently..I’m stuffed!

    Now..back to work!”, “0″, “153″, “8″, “azrin”, “

It comes to show that Piracy doesn’t pay (Sometimes!)
