Wednesday morning…and athira already wake me up way before my wake-up call.
So what’s the plan of action.
Simply put, i need a new pair of power leads, mouse, monitor, keyboard for the IBM NetVista I got from Ebay-uk for £36!, P3-1Ghz,386MB Ram, 30GB HDD. And at least this time, the video card didn’t fuck up like this DELL OPTIPLEX GX110 that it can only go up to 640*400.

and then, I can load the DVD-ROM and teach Athira now to play the computer, Learning Macromedias liek BALAMORY, FIMBLES and much more. I rem the days when I just got my old PC in 1994, came with loads of education software when U buy a creative CDROM Drive+SoundBlaster card package. Costed me £150 back then, and I ended up playing games! silly me!

But among other stuff I toy about that….

Few things came to mind, a DVB Digital Video Card to stream telly on it? My Ex-Wife loved to say DiGatal (meaned Itchy fingers) for the digital cameras.

Anyway, have to save money for marlinda’s birthday.. she wanted a SLR camera…
I’m off to Cash Converters in a bit..finding her maybe a tripod to play about with our camera…so we can take family pictures together.

Shouldn’t cost so much anyway… or else…EBAY is the way
Note: Thing to do and things to say….

Cars ,Linux, DeLL, WebHosting, Proxy Servers….what more can I add?
Cars: Fixing up my old Proton Satria which I normally used to scavange….Misfiring ….dunno why..maybe the plugs or hi-t cable screws up.
ToDo: Open up the Proton Ops Manual and see if the 1.6 steering rack is same to 1.5……. Have to fire up the ALCHEMY software and search thru the microfiches

looks from the diagrams…the tie-rod side is the same…be it powered or not.
try and see my luck.Still have to get that darn distributor.

DELL- Stupid Optiplex GX110 uses INTEL drivers I think.
can’t get the resolution to work properly….thus why the WIN XP failed when installing….driver error. Darn it.

Linux works OK with 600×480…..so it proves that the drivers need update
have to rebuild the RPM
Rem the code Capslock+NumLock+ScrollLock On
ALT-E ..
and clear the NVRAM

Proxy servers….poor jimmo was trying to run off a 4PROXY PHP script…
needs good bandwidth though.

Microsoft Provided us with a few copies of the W2K3 Server R2 on both standard and Enterprise version.”, “So I thought what is so great other than the fact that it needs so much juice. The it occured to me that the W2K3 (Windows 2003 Server Release 2) has a nice little goodie : Virtual Server 2005!

No doubt there are alot of pirated or dodgy copies there o­n EBAY but I kinda waiting to get my hands o­n this Virtual Server , as it takes the need of Dumb Terminal a step forward.
Remember to old days of X400,WISE and other OPAC Terminals at the Uni or Library? Well, it seems that it works o­n PXE (Pre Boot Execution) or BOOTP terminologies.

And since I have yet to be successful with the Linux RARP and TFTP kernels (not yet master the art of Image Drives) so I try this o­ne first.

But then I need a good CPU..and where will I get it from?
2 Options I’m looking at:
IBM Netvista or the DELL GX110.
I’m more keen o­n the GX110 as the video driver don’t work that well off XP so I wanna give that a try o­nce i can land myself a better drive and some more ram. Did I mention RAM again?

Maximum Capacity of 8 CPU o­n Simultaneous Multi-Processor Processing (SMP) ands 32GB of RAM.
+ Standards mean a Network Card for LAN/WAN and/or InterNet connection,SVGA monitor at 800*600 monitor resolution,CDROM Drive , mouse and keyboard (obviously). Could install it under a OEMSETUP (ie:No Hands! Auto Install)

Virtual Server 2005 needs alot more juice than it’s host.
MIN:550M,256MB,+2GB Space (++), WIN XP SP2
REC: 1.0GHz CPU and loads of HDD Space.

Well, of course it needs to be more..as you need loads of space to load things up ..as the OS is running off the CPU, ie all transactions off the central server,and that’s where I come in with this ingenious cunning plan.

Like when I was toying with my DRUPAL installations, to Poll the NEWS FEED, I need a cron job to pull and refresh the RSS feeds every 15 minutes. The nitwit CRONTAB needs lynx or curl to poll the cron.php..so in the end…i have to let my trusty old Dell Dimension 200Mhz (YOU READ IT CORRECT, a Pentium 200Mhz) to run the cron jobs.

And Powweb, oooh PW! They were acquired ..and I think it’s time they have a run for the money.

More changes= more downtime and more crap..

My 2c worth! But since you can NEVER GET WHAT YOU WANT, even with a Co-Lo, then U have to work around all these.
